IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen, Chief of Staff Edison Fraser, Airline Coordinator Tom Regan and Special Representative Kaleb Rosa conducted a busy trip to the Hawaiian islands with the purpose of meeting IAM members from the island of Maui after the recent devastating fires. GVP Johnsen met with members from Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, discussing the disaster relief program and distributing relief checks to those members who have applied for assistance.

IAM Local 1979 also hosted its first annual Guide Dogs Of America charity golf tournament on the island of Oahu. Grand Lodge, District 141 and 142 Officers, staff, and over 150 IAM members, along with their families and friends, supported the charity event, raising nearly $20,000.

GVP Johnsen also reported on meetings with Hawaiian Airlines management and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, who are collaborating on plans to develop an aviation apprenticeship program for high school students in the Hawaiian Islands.
